Description
A well-made piece with a large blade. Of good quality, tightly forged steel that is shaped to considerable precision. Straight grooves, facets, and bevels. Blade with the classic layout; Two grooves running along the base of the blade up to the shoulder. The spine is ridged. The main portion of a blade is slightly hollow ground. Edge contours still intact, no signs of excessive sharpening or damage polished out.
The hilt consists of an iron bolster and a carved dark hardwood grip. Grip with the traditional raised band for grip and a deeply carved decorative band with stylized floral motifs. The grip is inlaid on both sides with two sets of three star-shaped ornaments in bone.
Comes with its original scabbard, covered entirely in black leather. Scabbard in very good condition, retaining its back pockets and the cakmak, a flint striker and sharpening steel. Bands and buttons that would go around the top part are lost.
